I'm guessing that you understand already how investing into specialized training is just like sharpening your ax. You'll end up growing your business more than you would have without it, and you will grow it faster on top of that as well. The reason why is because reps like that don't understand the difference between "spending" and "investing." And as long as they have a mindset that they would be "spending money" to attend a training, they won't grasp that they can make money from all that they will learn.
Another common reason to not attend a training event is, "I've been to plenty of conferences, and they all say the same thing." Now I could go on and on about the power of hearing certain things over again but in a different way, but here's the thing. I don't have to. You see, my training just is NOT the same old thing that everyone always hears in this industry.

One of the things that used to frustrate me the most was that much of what I was trained to do felt like rotten ol' pushy salesmanship. I don't know about you, but one thing I can't stand is a pushy salesman. And I really resent how they try and sometimes succeed at cornering me into doing something that I don't want to do.
I just NEVER wanted to resemble a pushy sales person in my direct sales business. Consequently, I had to figure how how to become successful without using many of the techniques that others would try to tell me to use.
My point? This just is not going to be "the same old, same old" training you have heard a zillion times before. But don't think that you will be able to convince everyone of that. Some people just don't see the value in training.
Usually those same people like things to remain the same, even if they complain on a daily basis. You see, people like that LIKE to complain. If things get too different and improve too much, what will they have to complain about?
All right, now that I've forewarned you that you may run into a few excuses about attending this event, I want to tell you what's on the schedule for this one day training. But before I jump in and tell you about the live training I've put together for your area, I want to share with you why I believe my style of training is not only unique in this industry, but also critical to your success in it.
It was almost twenty years ago when I started a business with a direct sales company (I hope that doesn't mean that I'm getting old). Like you, I loved the product that I chose to sell, but one of the challenges I faced was how to sell it without sounding like some pushy salesperson.
And as I've already said, the reason for that is because I personally never like it when other sales people use pushy sales tactics on me.
Although I loved attending the company sales meetings and training sessions, one of the things that I struggled with was the verbiage. Too often what I was being told to say felt pushy to me, and I just couldn't see myself saying those things to prospects.
I knew that in order to personally be successful in direct sales I would have to discover another way, a way that would make both my prospects and me feel good.
It's going to feel like I'm completely changing the subject, but hang with me here for a minute, and you'll learn how I managed to figure out how to be incredibly successful without any of those worn-out, dead-as-door-nails, 1950's sales tactics.
Back when I was a senior in high school, I was fortunate enough to take Advanced English with F.X. Slevin. He was about 5 feet 10 inches, he had a very long red beard, which he enjoyed stroking with his right hand, and he also had a somewhat large round belly for his frame.
He was a superlative teacher. I would love to tell you all about him, but instead, I'm just going to tell you what he did for me that might initially shock you.
He taught me how to read.
That might have shocked you at first if you thought that I meant I didn't technically know how to read as a senior in Advanced English. No, I technically knew how to read, but what F.X. taught me was how one discovers what an author is really saying.
He used to tell us that we would have no doubt what an author meant, if we would only READ his words. He taught us to read sentences over and over and over and over again, until the meaning burst forth like a thunder cloud.
You see, what F.X. really taught me was this. To truly understand something, you might have to do it over and over and over and over until your brain figures it out and suddenly what you're looking for or what you're wanting to learn appears like a rainbow after a thunderstorm.
My husband tells me that it does not matter if something isn't working out in my business because he knows that I will keep working at it over and over until I figure it out.
And that is exactly what I did in my direct sales busines. I did certain things over and over, but always focused on what I could implement and what I would learn from each implementation.
Before long I realized that I had a business that was even better than owning a franchise - I invested very little to get started (Do you realize that even a franchise like Quiznos requires 30 - 40 grand to get started, and how many times a month so you go to Quiznos?), I didn't have to work when I didn't want to, I didn't have to worry about my employees stealing from me, and on top of all that, I could and did build some heftly RESIDUAL INCOME!
Hardly. Remember how I told you that my senior English teacher was a superlative teacher? Because F.X. was such an inspirational role model, I not only gave our son one of his names (Marcus J.X. Stanley), but I also strove to develop a superlative training for my consultants.
My desire to develop superlative training lead me to the study of marketing, and to this day I remain completely ensconced in that endeavor. Indeed, at the bottom of many of my emails is the phrase, "Ancora Imparo." These are said to be the final words of Michelangelo on his death bed. Translated into English they mean, "I'm still learning."
One of my deepest desires is to always be learning. My husband, Jim, once told me that he's never met anyone as intense as I am about learning, changing, and growing.

The key is for us to start showing our prospects and our customers just how amazing and profitable a direct sales business can be.
